Support the Dr. Henry Palmer Professorship in Community Pharmacy Practice!
The Henry A. Palmer Endowed Professorship in Community Pharmacy Practice is the first endowed professorship in the School of Pharmacy. The fund was established by Dr. Palmer's colleagues in 2007, and the professorship was created in 2009 through philanthropic support.
The Henry A. Palmer Endowed Professorship in Community Pharmacy practice was established in honor of Dr. Henry A. Palmer Palmer. Dr. Palmer's background was with community, hospital, and long-term care consulting, as well as in teaching and research. In 2007, Dr. Palmer retired from his role at the UConn School of Pharmacy as the Director of Continuing Education and Clinical Professor Emeritus at the School of Pharmacy.
A gift to the Dr. Henry Palmer Professorship will allow pharmacy students and fellows to work alongside nationally recognized researchers, such as current Palmer Professor Dr. Marie Smith, to conduct health services research on (1) collaborative roles and expanded services of community-based pharmacists, and (2) improved medication use and safety in emerging care delivery models such as medical homes, accountable care organizations, and community-based health teams.
