Support the Animal Industries Equine Development Fund

The UConn Department of Animal Science is seeking to raise $5,000 for the corrective surgery and treatment for a foal born with a cataract in early April. Because this type of expense is considered elective, there is currently no funding available to cover the cost of the treatment required to correct this condition.

The breeding program at UConn provides a unique opportunity for students to have a hands on learning experience working with broodmares, stallions and foals. As a student, I participated in foal watch and had the opportunity to directly interact with the mares and foals, and truly made some of my best memories!

Please join me in raising the funds necessary to cover this foal's treatment by making a gift to The Animal Industries Equine Development Fund. In addition, Department Head Steve Zinn has offered the naming rights to this foal to anyone pledging the full $5,000 (Imagine naming your own UConn horse!)

I love Stella; she's so well-tempered, and would make a great lesson horse one day!
