Racing into UConn's Engineering Spotlight

UConn Formula SAE A Project of Ignite 2016

Our Team:

Each year, a group of the most dedicated, ambitious, and innovative students from the University of Connecticut undertake one of the most challenging projects in their engineering career: design, manufacture, and race a high-performance Formula-style vehicle. Tested on the design, marketability, and racing performance of their vehicle, teams compete in a number of prestigious and highly competitive international events held by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Students are challenged with levels of responsibility found in a full time position while simultaneously earning a degree at the University of Connecticut.

How does your donation help?

UConn Formula SAE needs the help and support of generous donors to continue its success. Through hard work and persistence, the team has achieved a level of vehicle performance that puts us in direct competition with teams that have resources far exceeding our own. From the hours spent traveling to the Michigan and Canada competitions, to the hours spent testing a car capable of sustaining over 1.7 g lateral force, each donation is a step toward acquiring the necessary funding it takes to operate a team capable of competing with other top universities. You donation will help fund our travel and other related expenses for the competition.

Wish the team luck in the 2016 season with one of the following custom donation amounts!

$19 . . . . .19th place (out of 120) in Michigan for the 2015 season
$38 . . . . .The 38-member team that got us there
$71 . . . . .Our top speed in competition
$100 . . . .100 HP at the rear wheels
