The Gus Mazzocca Visiting Artist Program A Project of School of Fine Arts

The Art & Art History Department is excited with the momentum around the Gus Mazzocca Visiting Artist Program. During his distinguished 42-year career at UConn, Professor Emeritus Gus Mazzocca was a leader in promoting and developing artists' residencies at art schools and universities internationally.

The Gus Mazzocca Visiting Artist Program will bring an emerging artist to campus each semester for a four-to-six week residency to create new works. The program focuses on emerging artists because students need to engage with cutting-edge contemporary artists who bring fresh ideas, new techniques, and unique mentoring styles.

Each visiting artist will receive studio space, access to the department's facilities, faculty and staff collaboration, graduate student studio assistants, materials, and a small stipend.

All gifts, no matter what the size, will make a difference and create a lasting legacy for visual art students.
