To aid in uplifting women and girls of color

UConn Chapter of National Council of Negro Women A Project of Ignite 2017

UConn's Chapter of National Council of Negro is a newly established sisterhood and needs your help in establishing a strong foundation. The University of Connecticut section of the National Council of Negro Women Inc. (NCNW), herein referred to as "the UCONN Section", was founded on the principles of campus unity, women empowerment and advocacy, and community service. Our primary goal is to uplift, and support women of color in all aspects of life. We would like to have more events on campus to spread our message of peace, sisterhood, community, unity and self-reliance. We also would love to branch out and by taking trips related to our national organization and embracing our history and learning more about the establishment of our sisterhood. We are raising money in order to be able to expand are horizons and truly make a lasting impact on campus by fostering a space of stimulation and comfort for women of color, and the environment and discourse involving us. If more money than needed is raised, the additional funds will be used for the successors of UConn's Chapters of NCNW to fund their future endeavors. Or if we don't reach our goal, the funds will be used for special events on campus with guest speakers who embody the NCNW values.
