Muslim Law Students Association A Project of Ignite Law 2017

Who We Are:

The Muslim Law Students Association (MLSA) is a student organization at UConn School of Law dedicated to raising awareness about Islamic issues, crushing stereotypes, and bridging gaps. We achieve these goals by hosting events such as panels with Muslim attorneys, networking opportunities with legal professionals, and brown-bag lunches with judges. We are also dedicated to giving back to the greater community by hosting clothing drives and food drives. MLSA welcomes new ideas and encourages discussions about various topics, especially current events.

Why You Should Help:

Muslims are an underrepresented minority in the legal field. It is difficult to access local mentors due to the sparsity. By supporting our organization, you are enabling us to reach out to professionals from a wider geographical area. Additionally, with the current political climate, we believe it is our duty to conduct community outreach and raise awareness of who we are, as American Muslims. We don't bite, we promise. Having an active Muslim Law Students Association on campus will promote diversity of ideas and attract prospective students. It will also keep the student body more engaged and aware of global events.

Where Money Will Go:

Any amount raised will go towards the general costs of our organization, including the various events we hold on campus and sponsoring students to attend conferences and leadership summits.
