Aburdene Family Scholarship Fund Honoring Philip Benevento A Project of Aburdene Family Scholarships

Philip Benevento, a lifelong member of the City of Waterbury, taught for 34 years at Crosby High School and retired as the head of the English Department. He has served as city historian for 13 years, giving talks, tours, and walks promoting the history of Waterbury. He made a tremendous impact on the Aburdene children and inspired them to pursue their college degrees.

The Aburdene Family Scholarship Fund Honoring Philip Benevento gives scholarship awards each year to one or more undergraduate students attending UConn's Waterbury campus. Priority is given to students with a strong record of community service and coursework in humanities or social sciences.
