Because Freedom can't protect itself
We're dedicated to inspiring this generation of lawyer's to defending our civil liberties
American Civil Liberties Union at UConn Law
We believe in the importance of our students having the chance to get involved early in issues threatening our civil liberties. We recognize the need to involve both our students and the community at large in any meaningful action. Our first goal is to keep people apprised of what is going on at the local and federal level. We do this through bringing in speakers who will represent both sides of the argument on topics as they come up- for example, on Connecticut's Second Chance bill and trending issues in bail reform. We want to connect people with each other by turning these events into dinners in which we encourage people to debate and discuss what they just heard with the people around them. We then want to be able to take the next step in moving people to action through voter registration drives, 'call your representative' drives on upcoming bills, lobbying and community organizing trainings. We have big ideas and would appreciate your support!
Whether we surpass our fundraising goal or fail to meet it, all our funds will go towards holding as many events to our mission as possible. What can't be used in this year will be put in the general fund towards the following years.
