Fighting Against Breast Cancer
Breast Cancer has impacted my life in a couple of ways, which is why I am asking others to support the Breast Cancer Research Fund at UConn Health. This fund supports research and education related to breast cancer, Close to Home.
Breast Cancer took my mother's life in February 2000 after a four year battle. She was only 51 years old and I was 25. While she was happy to be able to attend my wedding, she did not have the opportunity to be a grandmother. I tell my children that if she were here today, they would be the most spoiled grandchildren around!
One of my best friends since age five, and a fellow UConn alumna, was recently diagnosed and is currently fighting the disease. She is 40 years old. She is married with two young boys, is remaining positive and is strong, but is understandably scared. Her boys cheered her up on one of her "bad days" by playing UCONNOPOLY with her! I am confident that she will get through this battle. Her prognosis is good, but she has a long road ahead.
We need to do what we can together to research, learn, educate, and find a cure! Every gift will make a difference. Collectively, as employees, we can join together in this fight.
Thank you for your consideration.
